Happy Halloween Skirts, New Crafty Chloe by Heather Ross

So Heather Ross (love her!) has a new book she illustrated: Crafty Chloe Dress Up Mess Up
And Hancock Fabrics has the matching fabric (see above) in this cute orange color for Halloween. So I ordered a little and made up two skirts... one for each girl.

Girl one, the school aged girl, gets the more sophisticated aline skirt with just a touch of Halloween polka dots at the waist. The black bias tape trim balances it out and adds a nice finished to the hem.

Girl two, the preschooler, gets the twirly flouncy version with what I call "Halloween collection ADD." There is the Crafty Chloe in the middle topped with some Moda and hemmed with Alexander Henry Ghastlie Tapestry.
I love sewing Halloween clothing instead of Halloween costumes because they can wear it more than once in the weeks leading up to the big day and it's more fun for me!

WOW ... Halloween clothing rather than costumes is the best idea I have heard in a long time ... I am going to remember this for al of my grandchildren. After sewing competition dance costumes and pageant wear for 18 years, I sew dislike sewing Halloween costumes that they then wear once.
